Why therapy?

When we are feeling stuck, alone, or trapped with certain thoughts or ways of being, therapy can open up new possibilities.  It can’t erase pain or grief, but it can help us move forward in meaningful directions, and it can help transform our relationship to our pain.

Therapy can be hard work, and it can also be fun.

I welcome your whole self into the therapy room, and together with a spirit of curiosity and openness we will figure out what comes next.  Let’s talk!

Please note: Starting in the fall I have times opening up on Tuesday, Friday and some Saturdays if needed.  Please email kate@katerobson.ca to book a session.

About Me

Inspired by my own NICU experiences, I have been working with parents and families for the past ten years as a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Family Support Specialist. I have developed support programs for hospitalized families and trained peer counsellors across Canada. I am currently training with the Toronto Institute for Relational Psychotherapy and am supervised by faculty there.

I have a Masters in Adult Education from OISE/UT, and a Diploma in Alternative Dispute Resolution and Mediation from York University. I am a member of the Canadian Association for Psychodynamic Therapists (CAPT) and the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science (ACBS).  I am working towards registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and follow their Code of Ethics.

I have completed training in maternal mental health (Maternal Mental Health Now Certificate Program) and infant mental health (Infant Mental Health Promotion Certificate).  I have also completed the Resolve Through Sharing: Perinatal Bereavement Program. My primary therapeutic approach is relational; I also really enjoy incorporating  Acceptance Commitment Therapy into my practice. I am committed to creating a welcoming, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive framework. Pronouns: she/her.

About Our Sessions

Our sessions together will be 50 minutes long and are $120.00.   I do have sliding scale spaces available and please don’t hesitate to contact me for more information about them.  Payment can be made at the conclusion of the session by cash or cheque, or just before the session by e-transfer.  I have a 24-hour cancellation policy.  I have the widest availability on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

My office is easily accessed by transit (streetcar or bus) and the closest main intersection is College and Bathurst.

There is an elevator in the building; doors are not all automatic and there is not currently a wheelchair accessible bathroom.  If this is a barrier please let me know and we can find a solution that works for you.  Babies are most welcome.
